Interesting topic, not sure what it has to do with Nova Scotia though.

Not sure why someone from Ontario moderates an atlantic canadian climbing message board?

Not sure why you care.

And I'm not "from" Ontario.

Don't be a jackass. What did you expect when you post such unnecessary, con-descending remarks?. We from NS, we post in NS. No big D. Move it and be quiet.

Back on topic. I'd use the rope.

If Todd has issue I'm sure he can speak for himself. Shame on you for thinking a grown man can't take care of himself.

As to the remark, it was tongue in cheek sorry a few of you don't get it.

Folks posting stuff in their "home" forum that should be elsewhere is getting really old. I don't make the rules, I just spend time I could be doing other stuff cleaning up their mess. If someone thinks the rules are dumb and they can do better they are more than welcome to start their own site.

I donate my time as a favor to a few friends and a whole lot of ungrateful cry babies. Please excuse me if I entertain myself occasionally at your or your BFF's expense.

OK so now this is getting off topic but my rational for posting to the Nova Scotia board is this.
I rarely ever look at the other sections of the boards like "comps", something, something, something and "gear". I'm sure i'm not the only one. Maybe i'm wrong? Show of hands how many people look check all the sections when they come on the site.
Also it's not just a post about gear, it's a story (fictional) that takes place in Nova Scotia.

If there was a way of posting to both at once then i would do that. As it is now the post appears in both, perfect, no complaints here.

Todd

PS. As my council,Eager and Scooter have the right and obligation to speak on my behalf.

Everyone:

Please put your socks in the sock drawer and your underwear in the underwear drawer.

I get frustrated when I hear complaints about our moderators team yet when I ask for help moderating no one steps up. Choss basically keeps this site running these days so in my opinion a thx is in order. Keep up the good work. You guys are too sensitive and you blow it out of proportion because you've already painted an image of someone you don't even know. Stop reading between the lines. I would have told you the same thing to keep your thread in the appropriate parts of the forum, it's in the moderating guidelines of this website which you can read by clicking on the terms of use of the website.

cheers

Fred

Hey Chossmonkey don't bother putting yourself out moderating the forum on my behalf...
Personally I'd rather have the spambots and the militant turkish porn-bombers.
Seriously.
I check the NS forum if I come on Climbeasterncanada (which isn't that often these days since I'm not terribly interested in homemade pants, choss, league night adverts (from both gyms) or any other halfassed beautiful flowers) because that where most things will be that I have any interest in. I'm not the only one who does this. For Frigs sweet sake there's a thread about Aidas publicizing my lost goddamned virginity with nary a response in the graveyard of (mostly boring and flowery) threads that is General/Comps/Gear.

This obsession with putting threads in the proper place is ridiculous. Todd wanted to talk about his (?) rope and get advice from people he knew in person (I assume) not the nameless hordes of blithering idiots lurking in the gear thread (mostly gridbolting New Brunswickers I'd imagine). I'm surprised I haven't seen some butthurt crybaby crap about how the rope will kill Todd and most people in the immediate area if he so much as approaches a cliff with it.

I realize I don't contribute anything to this forum except vitriol and invective. I think however that I am still allowed to call out what appears to be an asinine bag of cocks acting in a way that contravenes the intentions (I'd assume) of this site to facilitate communication between climbers.

Todd (and Ben),

Yeah... I occasionally check the NS forum since I know a few folks who live over there. That's where this tread lived when I replied. I won't make that mistake again, and you'll suffer the blithering of one less idiot.

I'll say this however... when I want to talk to close friends I do so on the phone, email, out climbing, or over a beer. When I post to an on-line forum, I implicitly expect to get responses from folks I may not know. Reaching a wider audience is the point. But hey, do whatever works for you.

Okay, here it is, we put gear talk in the gear forum so that anyone can take part in a discussion. NB'ers know as much about ropes as folks from NS and it wasn't an issue specific to Nova Scotia. There is a button at the top of the page that says 'view new posts' which brings up all new posts since your last log in. This is how I search the forum so that I can see anything new, in all categories. I can then choose to read, or not, anything that I like. I don't know how you guys search the new threads, but it is a function of the forum that works well.

I'll tell you what I don't like though. People complaining about how things are done by the mod team when they aren't stepping up to mod themselves. Fred has often asked for help on the forum, and Choss and GGrrl have generously traded their mod efforts for time share use of the spare bedroom chez Bérubé. Great deal for for Fred and I to have help and not a bad trade for them either.

I have no issues with how threads are moved to their appropriate subjects. Mods do your thing.

However,

chossmonkey wrote:Interesting topic, not sure what it has to do with Nova Scotia though.
There was also an immediate reply "Oh, and the rope is fine." That is not posted below.

Sounds awfully sarcastic and belittleing to me. Which is where my comment stands. Doesn't matter if I know Todd or not ... that comment is just power trippin' Mod. I don't believe being a mod is an excuse not to be curtious? That is what we call 'helping out'? Just makes you sound like jackass IMO.

Like I said... I think you guys are reading into it. You are trying to interpret tone from a written message. We all know that the tone is set by the reader not the writter when it comes to emails and forums. I read the posts quite differently...
