ICEFEST at Ministers Face.

Postby Joe » Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:46 pm

I climbed at Mt. Misery tonight. Only 4-5 lines were climbable, the others were blown out. The quality is not as good as Ministers Face, and I don't think it's as good a location for the IceFest. So lets go with "Plan B" and meet at Ministers Face Saturday morning around 10am for the IceFest. After climbing all day it's an easier trip to Steve Adamsons for supper. Bring a potluck and a slideshow.

What is the crossing like? Skis, skates or snowshoes?

Cheers,

Skates would be great. River is bare.

The river is good and safe, and like Steve says is excellent for skating. It's certainly the fastest way to travel. But if you walk, you'll have to wear crampons - the ice is very slick.

It was a pleasant enough stroll on Sat., Feb. 16/08. Skates would have been great, but we wore crampons. The ice was probably about 6" thick (which is the same as 9" inches if you are male).
A monk asked Quiglin Shiqian, "What is a person who has realized the Way?"
Quiglin said, "Embracing the ice and snow, head and eyebrows held high."

Thanks for a great time last night Steve! As always you host a great after party. I wish I could have climbed during the day, but sometimes these things don't work out!

It was great to see everyone. Marie-France chattered about the 'doggieeees' until she fell asleep on the drive home somewhere around the harbor bridge. :)

Cheers

Joe, Steve and everyone else - thank you for putting together a spectacular day!
It was great to meet you all and to have an opportunity share a few lines ... and what great way to end the day with good eats, drinks, the Adamson's hospitality and Chuck's video commentary
Here's looking forward to seeing you all out on the ice and rocks.

It was a good day for climbing at minister's Face. It was about as warm as you would want, and enough ice to have fun. Thanks to everyone for coming out.

Next year I think the entry fee will be that you must bring some pictures. I am sure everyone has some photos from past climbs and trips so lets see if we can get a variety for the evening. If we are lucky we can get Chuck to narrate for us. He doesn't have to know anything about the picture to be entertaining.

Mark this date down for next year. February 21st 2009

Definitely a great day most certainly.

It was great to meet so many of you 'in person' from the board...

I'm sure we'll meet up again on ice , and rock this summer!
