Bear Mtn next weekend

Postby Matt Peck » Mon Sep 01, 2008 9:25 am

Hey all, looking to get a crew together to get out to Bear Mtn next weekend. You can peruse the list of climbs in the BEAR MTN INFO section of this forum page. More should be put up this week, weather permitting.
Looking at Saturday also WP. Give me a PM if you'd like to join in!
Cheers,
Matthew.

I was thinking the same thing Matt, I plan on heading to Bald Hill this weekend and hopefully through the week as well. I've got 40 hangers that should be in the next couple of days so there will be a few more routes in the next couple of days as well. Everyone should definitely come out next weekend.

Sounds good boys. Looks like it's going to be cool and cloudy. Just right for the sending. Were you going to put a bolt on the bottom of that route right of Toad in the Hole? It looks a bit far to the first one and I was wondering if you guys just ran out of hangers.

We haven't yet bolted the line to the right of toad in the hole. I think your thinking of the one to the left (face the pockets). yep, we will put a hanger on the first bolt this weekend.

A few of us are planning to drive to the top of Bald Hill on Sunday so there should be someone out there rain or shine.

I bet when you and your brother were the age of our kids, your Dad had Saturdays that weren't climbing related... right Steve?? (Say Yes even if you don't mean it!!)

Cara I think you better let Fred get out and climb all the time. Otherwise he'll end up like Steve and have both of your kids outclimb him. :D

Why are you limiting your question to just Saturdays? There are 7 days a week and when my kids were young they were all climbing days. Any good parent would make sure of that!

By the looks of your Groundskeeper Willey ripped physique I can see that your schedule only accommodates climbing. hehehe I'm living vicariously through you PJ with all the stories on here and your family website about trips to NH, JTree and Yosemite. Looks like good times.

cheers

You see, the problem lies in that both Fred and I are climbers and we Both want to get out climbing, but with 2 kids in tow it really limits us. Thankfully we have some friends who don't have their own gear or car and are willing to help with kids in trade for climbing! (thanks holly and others!) Won't be long and they'll be old enough to come with us and not need to be carried or watched as closely ..for now I'll enjoy them as they are and just dream about my future climbing days when they are older! :)

For those who really hate to walk you will be pleased to know that you can now drive to the top of Bald Hill. 2 of us with Jeeps drove up there on Sunday, so if we go camping on top we can bring lots of beer!

By then the will be old enough to get mad when you drag them with climbing when they don't want to go. :P
