Boulders in O'Dell Park (Fredericton)

Postby François » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:23 am

Anybody know which boulders I'm talking about?

I ''found'' them while geocaching yesterday. They are covered in moss but there's a lot of potential for some very interesting traverses...

Anybody know if the site has been developed and climbed before?

Any topos or people who know the lanes, names, and diffuclty?

You can find them at:

-N 45° 57.090 W 066° 40.575

or

-UTM: 19T E 680088 N 5091284

Thanks!

1) Pretty sure it's been sent before. I've seen chalk there now and again and the top has been peeled of moss in the past. Not exactly worth drafting a topo for however.

2) I can't believe you just publically admitted to geocaching.

Thanks for the reply...I see a lot of small but interesting climbs there... I'm gonna clean it up a bit soon.

Yes I'm a geocacher....and thanks to geocaching, I discovered new boulders in a city I'm still not that familiar with ;)

I'd rather say I'm a geocacher than own a GPS and have no clue how to use it...seen a lot of those kind. If you ever need a hand with navigating, I'm your man...be it with a GPS, Compass, Map...or none :D

Ok... well just so I don't come off as a total prick I'm going to give you coordinates to some more geological-caches:

UNB Woodlot bouldering: 45'55'09.75 N -66'38'38.19 W
The UAC bouldering: 45'56'34.78 N - 66'43'8.06 W

Neither are stellar but both probably offer more than in Odell park... but wow, admitting to bouldering and geocaching in a single post, how embarassing.

Just kidding.

Thanks, anymore grids or directions to other areas NOT in the Rock Climber's Guide to New Brunswick would be appreciated...

Cheers all and happy climbing ;)

Try to get your hands on a copy of Zig Tv's first bouldering film titled "Bouldering Eh!"
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

Watch out for all the broken glass at the base of those boulders!
