Central Scrutinizer

Postby Dom » Tue Nov 24, 2009 11:31 am

Hey I got on this route yesterday. I slung both trees and after realizing how far away is the first bolt from the bottom of the birch tree , I slung a Y between branches. Has anyone else done this?? would it hold up a fall??

Luckily I didnt take any falls on any of the 2 first bolts but I'm wondering if anyone has and if so did you hit the tree??

Awesome route and very crimpy....I can't beleive this line used to go at 5.11a...

There is a bomber thread between the top tree and first bolt.

What Stef said.

I thread a nut through a dogbone flake from what I recall. Lets you get to the first bolt safely. Otherwise difficult moves with slung tree far below.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

This route is in dire need of replacing some bolts IMHO.

I agree, those bolts are in rough shape (Didn't help that I fell on them a lot this summer...). I'll order-up some replacement hardware.

Did you hit the tree on any of your many falls on this route?

I know I was definitely intimidated by that birch behind me...someone should cut it  haha jk

Not that I will admit to...

I wouldn't cut that tree, I think most people sling it before starting the traverse on Think Pure Thoughts

I've lead that route a couple of times, and I've never had a problem with the tree. Bit ol nut goes in there about 10 feet up and the pro is fine as far as Im concerned, other than needing a re-bolting.
