Ice climbing partners?

Postby 3.1415lot » Sat Dec 05, 2009 11:14 am

Hello all,
I'm moving out to NB for the winter (wife got a job out there), and thinking about getting back into ice climbing. I've heard there's some awesome routes in NB, but haven't experienced any first hand (Lake Superior bluffs is the only ice I've climbed).
I'm looking for some people to go out with any time (through the week and weekends)
Is there much close by Freddy?
When does the ice season start on the east coast?
Cheers all!

Hey, I've just moved to Fredericton so I don't know much, but I plan to go ice climbing often this winter. Just waiting for the ice...
I've seen many links to "Joe Kennedy's Ice Climbing Guide to NB" but the link doesn't work any more. However I downloaded the guide a while ago so I can send you the pdf if you want (I think it's from 2006). Just give me an email address.

Hm. One link didn't work, and it's impossible to edit posts in this forum :(
so let's try again.

Ice should be starting up anytime. It's been a warm fall. Usually we'd be on the ice by now.

Joe's Ice Climbing Guide to New Brunswick is available for purchase at the Radical Edge in Fredericton.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

You can also pick up the guide book at Radical Edge, a must have at the ice cliffs...

This time last year we were on ice at Parlee Brook...there may be some soon! ;)

So there's an ice climbing guide book too? Ah I didn't know about that, I just have the normal rock climbing guide book.

Maybe if Joe is watching this... is your guide available locally to fellow Saint John and surroundings area climbers? I'd much prefer to get it local than to drive to Freddy and back or have them mail it. How much is the guide, BTW?

I'll be looking to get out a fait bit this winter and I know how to get into all the major areas (not always easy in NB...). Send me a PM anytime after X-mas.

Cheers,

Stef.
