Boulder in Freddy. Is it done

Postby Jordy » Fri Mar 12, 2010 8:29 pm

Theres a boulder problem at the bottom of Cantebury Lane, on forrest Hill road.

Its the overhanging one. With the obvious jug start on the right. Follow the holds going left. Then up and top out pretty much in line with the tree.

Has anyone done it. Grade and name.

If not. Id like some help on grading it. and maybe some ideas on a name :P

PS- theres a load of traverse routes in this area.

Ghislain Losier climbed those problems 10 or 12 years ago. They were in a movie he produced called "Bouldering Eh" which features bouldering in New Brunswick. I can loan you copy if you'd like to see the video.

cheers

Pretty safe to say that just about everything has been climbed.

.that boulder you speak of
.the big one in O'dell park
.the woodlot
.the dump (UAC) whatever
.every worthwhile building on campus and downtown
.the bridge supports by the library
.the handcrack at the north side walking bridge support
.etc, etc, etc

But hey... you might find something truely new if you get off the beaten path. Happy hunting. Post up whatever you find. (Adam supposedly knows of some new fingercrack buildering somewhere that he's yet to divuldge).

Awesome. Didn't realize there was a movie out about the rock in NB. I'd love to get my hands on it for sure. Would you happen to know if he put a grade on it (just curious for my progression). I love this little spot.

Oh... Thanks for the offer Fred, but I don't even own a VHS player.
I do have to thank you though, I totally just nostalgiaed off the mention of VHS.

Please tell me you were at least born when there were still VHS players around or else I'll feel really old.

Zig, have you put your old VHS movies onto DVD? :)

You are a dinosaur Ken. LMAO joking

but in case you are wondering how old you are with respect to the climbing community here is an easy test:

1. If you've never heard of the movie "Short Circuit" then you're a young climber with lots of potential left and you probably haven't plateaued yet.

2. If you remember watching the movie "Short Circuit" as a kid you are likely part of the aging population of climbers fighting to hang in there, literally! Your climbing career is on a downslide.

3. If you remember watching the movie "Short Circuit" with your kids then you are in better shape than group no 2 above since you've got some fresh ropeguns to get you to the top, you see no shame in french freeing, and you've built-up enough equity in your life to road-trip comfortably.

I'm in category no.2 - although I'm climbing more now than I have in the past 5yrs. Partially due an expanding family, and a shortened digit, similar to what Chris N. is experiencing right now.

Have a speedy recovery Chris,

woah woah woah, so there was once a time when you recorded stuff on tape fred? Like the stuff you stick paper together with? Geez, we must record and preserve this ancient technology! (the tape, not Fred).
