Climbing in North-West New Brunswick?

Postby sar » Sun Jul 24, 2011 9:53 am

Hello climbers!

I have just moved in Grand Falls NB and I have been looking for climbing spots without luck. Besides the obvious Grand Falls gorge which is too difficult for what I am looking for. More specifically, I'm looking for areas where I can initiate my children to climbing/rappelling. So.. not too difficult and not too far from home.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Sar:

I think the closest climbing to you would be Kamouraska just past Riviere-du-Loup in Quebec.

Other option would be Welsford, NB.

I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

with all the rugged terrain up in NW NB, i can't believe there aren't some cliffs up there just waiting for development.

As part of your climbing travels, you should check it out ;-)

The geology is much different in that area. Resembles Pont Rouge.
