New To Saint John and looking to climb

Postby lanamiller » Wed Aug 10, 2011 11:52 am

I have just moved to Saint John from Alberta and I would like to continue climbing. I was wondering if there is an active gym or climbing club in the area where I can meet people from the local climbing community?

Thanks!

There is a climbing wall at NBCCSJ. It's a great place to meet local climbers. Unofortunately, it won't be open until the start of school (sep. 7th, or around then). During the school year it is open tuesdays and thursdays from 7-10pm.

This is your best bet for making connections.
I was in your shoes a couple years ago when I returned from AB. Your climbing career is not over, don't worry.
If you want to "befriend" me on facebook I will link you to all the local climbers on my list. That may help as well.

Greg is right, we have a bunch of local crags in the Saint John area. What do you have for gear?

I have a modest trad rack (i.e. not many doubles), rope, draws, anchors, shoes, harness, helmet, etc. I have looked through the guidebook, and it looks like there is lots of fun climbing in the area. I just need to meet some climbers. To that end, I don't have a facebook account, but will definately check out the wall at the college in the fall.

I'd be interested in getting together with some Saint John climbers as well. I haven't used the NBCC wall but would like to get out there this winter.
