Munson Lake Guide

Postby cory » Tue Feb 21, 2012 1:45 pm

We're still many weeks away from the road opening up, but googlemaps was nice enough to purchase some higher quality satelite shots of this part of the province. So, I've updated the online guide. It's accessible here

or here http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?msid=215474150742044668570.0004a1fbbdca4deb21a67&msa=0

Looks like an endless amount of boulders out there.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

I think that the bouldering here is as good if not better than the LOC in NS. It certainly is more concentrated with lots of awesome problems.

Cory did you see the forecast for the next few days? I think that road will be free of snow sooner than we thought!

I'm also motivated to get out there!

Perhaps, but we'll need evaporative weather too. Given how fine particle and soft the road is, it gets supersaturated pretty easily. Passable in a muddin' truck, but that'll wreck the road for any future use. Since they're no longer logging out there, they're not repairing it. The conditions had deteriorated by my last visit on December 5th. There had been no snow or rain (climbed the 3rd, 4th, adn 5th) to that point, just the evening frosts. It was rough driving in places up, even on the main (maintained) road I was sinking into the bumpers for a few stretches. If we can exercise patience, it will make for a good season, and good seasons to come.

Thank you. Credit also goes to M Keays, and Adam M, with some help from Graham W, and Mark MacD.
