Sunnyside Survey

Postby Dom » Tue Jan 15, 2013 12:28 pm

Hey Fellow NB climbers, please take a minute to fill out this Sunnyside survey. This will help me assign stars for SS in the next guidebook. BTW it's anonymous

I offered input on the ~5 of those that I climbed, and it immediately took me to a "log in" screen when I hit submit, so I don't know whether or not it went through... but there you go :)
Great climbing links:
http://www.reddit.com/r/climbing/ - http://www.reddit.com/r/climbingvids/ - http://www.reddit.com/r/climbingporn/ (that last one isn't what you think it is)
If I'm posting here, I'm probably at work.

I think it's normal. Can't say if yours definitely went through because it's anonymous, but I've had 7 responses so far so something is working.

Thanks Sam.

Hey Dom,

I might be wrong, but there is routes missing. Just wondering why?

When is the new guide coming out? Can't wait to see it!

Hey Zach,

You're right. I didn't want to make the survey too long so I only put 23 of the 44 routes of Sunnyside. The 23 routes I used were the ones with the biggest question mark for stars.

I sneaked Dihelio in there though and I knew what the result would be. It was confirmed with everyone (aside for the I don't knows) giving it 3 stars.

As for when the new guide is coming out, I'm shooting for sometime in May.

Yup I remember you telling me this one day.
Some people do though!

For instance, Celestial Motion has 2 3 stars votes and 4 2stars votes out of 18 votes.
IMO it's a 0 star route!

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion.

In some ways its interesting just to give people an exercise with minimal instructions. However, for the most part, it's a recipe for disaster.

When I did it, I felt that 3 stars should mean the route is in the top 5% of all routes in N.B. (so about 20-25 climbs in the guide would get it). 2 stars puts you in the the next 10% (so another 40-50 climbs) and 1 star rounds out the top quartile. If the route isn't in the top quartile than it shouldn't get any stars. Of course, I only graded routes I've climbed.

Considering the wealth of 5.10 sport climbs around, Celestial Motion is not 3 stars. Maybe 1... tops.
