Dash (of Fall Memory)

Postby Dom » Mon Mar 18, 2013 10:47 am

I think this route needs a bolted anchor now. Surmounting the tree anchor now looks like the crux of the route  .

If you're wondering what caused this, a few major sized blocks seem to have made their way down that part of the cliff this Winter. A few more trees are down in that area.

The same can be said for the Stairway where a few fallen mature Pine trees now partially block the trail.

my vote would be for a bolt anchor as well - thanks Dom!

Climbed it on Sunday. I took the tree out wich was definitely the crux. The giant block right of the tree in you picture is now quite terrifying. I don't recall it even being suspect before. I think that bolts may shorten the route a little but it will be better than belaying from the larger tree above. I definitely would not trust the large block if it were bolted. I'm sure you will know what I mean when you see it. Looks fine from below.

What did you use for an anchor? The tree stump?

There is a good tree on the ledge further back but it's a definite belay from above.

Yeah, the one at the base of Taxman Commeth.
I'll add a bolt anchor when I get a chance. Don't worry, I don't bolt loose blocks, no matter the size.
