Classic roofs at CL

Postby Dom » Mon Apr 29, 2013 10:02 am

Looking for a list of classic roofs at Cochrane Lane.

So far I have:

Flight of the Valkeries 5.11a
Pink Panther 5.10a
Keep it in Jerry 5.11-
Gumby Roof 5.10

Peer Pressure 5.12b
The Way Life Should Be 5.12a
Solstice 5.13a
What’s a Paradygm 5.12c

Please let me know if you think of other nice roofs.

I was thinking A.P. as well but it skirts around the roof while all the other routes crank through.

My thought exactly.
Does John Bowlts have a roof, or just an overlap?
What do you consider the moneyshot on Cheekbone? It's unnecessary and you kind of skirt your way around/through it like on Ride a Cock Horse.
Pharaoh Faucet?
Rock Jock
Just realized you said "classic"...I'll let you judge the worthiness, this is just the others I can come up with at the moment.

I'm also not sure what I should put as 'roofs. It is definitely a grey area but I probably won't be too inclusive in my description.

Yep there are some that aren't so classic so it will be a judgment call. Rock Jock probably hasn't seen an ascent in 10 years. (I've never been on it, needs a scrub before I do)

Others I can think of might not fit the bill because they are not classics (e.g. 'Puff the Magic Dragon') or have only semi-roofs (e.g. 'Le Miel est Plus Doux que le Sang', 'Witches', 'Talamasca', Sticky Fingers, Trouble With Lichen, Cheekbone, etc.)

This thread request is for the guidebook

I don't think there's any hard fast rule about what defines a roof. In my mind it must be steep enough and protruding enough to require a horizontal position and/or cutting loose. More objectively, long enough that your hips cannot be up the upper (vert) wall while your feet are still touching the lower (vert) face, so 3' if you need a numerical limit

No idea if it's a classic, but tigger patrol is a very nice looking roof

Telefunkin has like 3... that feel way harder than 10a!

Also, what about the small roof on Sticky Fingers?

Cheers!
