Not sure Adam. I think the best option is taking the decisions the day of, after having assessed the terrain. It's not a bad idea to brain storm at this point but it's so hard to evaluate what needs to be done when we're not on site. Bolting rods into the granite slab might be an option IMO.

I think in the future (when Ascent is no longer in the embryo stage) this would be a great project that Ascent NB could decide and vote on and ultimately delegate the work to a special committee (trail crew) for cleaning day.

not to be pessimistic, but are we going to pick a rain day? looking very wet in the long range right now.

I fear your "non-pessimistic" comment will get people who were on the fence to bail.

In any event, obviously no one wants to go out if it's pouring but Saturday looks sunny  :

Anyways, no need for cliffs to be dry to do trail work. Remember how everything was wet/humid last year?

Unless it pours, I'll be there Saturday.

Update:

On Saturday a trail crew accomplished a pile of needed work:

1) Lower trail to Exfoliated was cleared
2) A few signs on the ground were re-posted
3) Boardwalks on the main trail were fixed up, and deadfall cleared
4) Soggy hole at the Minkey end of the boardwalk was drained and built up
5) Lower Dawn wall erosion was controlled

If you are travelling up to the climbs at Lower Dawn wall (Comrades, Fandango, Tipsy, etc), please try and use the stone stairs and the now cleaned slab. The whole point was to get foot traffic off the loose soil. Please step carefully until the stonework settles in.

Thanks to the crew of dedicated climbers who showed up to help.

I'll put forward right now that trail day 2014 should focus on Sunnyside. Cheers.

A perfect day to be out. Good work to all those who came out.
I agree with Chris that next year we should focus on the trail at Sunnyside - especially where the trail meets the cliff.

Here are a few more pics from yesterday:
