Where in Quebec are you looking to go?

According to the guidebook the ice season is generally underway in most of Quebec by mid-December. How "early season" the ice is would likely depend on the area, the year, and how you like to climb your ice.

If you don't already have the guide book, "Guide des cascades de glace et voies mixtes du Quebec" by Stephane Lapierre & Bernard Gagnon, it may be available through MEC, (the Toronto store stocks it). If you haven't already guessed, it is written mostly in French. :x
