Bring Back The Edit Function

Postby peter » Fri Mar 25, 2005 9:16 am

Does this Board not have an edit function on posts, or am I just stupid and can't figure it out?

Remember that the old Board did have an edit function ("post last edited on such and such a day")?

If we could go in and edit our posts after making them, this might be a much, much, much better site.

There are many posts I have made in recent weeks that I wish I could edit, as they demanded restraint where none was present on first impulse.

And besides, that way if you spell someone's last name wrong, he/she won't think you don't know their name!

I also like the edit function, and use it on other climbing forums. but I see fred's point.

I prefer Teth's point of view on this issue (per his Jan. 04 05 post).

Can we have an edit function on one of the forums, such as the NS one?

I agree that we should be able to edit our posts.

On another board I frequent. There are over 6000 memebers and people are posting all the time. You can edit posts all you want and the issue of continuity of threads never comes up. I don't really buy this arguement.

We should be able to correct spelling.

If it does become a problem it can always be turned back off.

I think having guest accounts is worst then not being able to edit posts.

Even better: a CNS Board, on which you must be a member to post (though anyone can view), and which you can only log-on to for posting purposes with your real (membership) name. Of course, it would also have an edit function ...

adding those functions will have to wait until Fred gets home. Moderators do not have the ability to change this.

Fred will be home on April 5th.
