Moose River

Postby Stevo » Mon Nov 26, 2007 12:33 pm

I am told that Moose River, known best for ice climbing potential, might offer some free climbing on decent rock. Anyone have an opinion on this? Anyone up for a reconnaissance soon while the road in is still open and maybe do some aid climbing?

I could do Saturday, the forecast is sunny but very cold. How do we get there? Do you need 4 wheel dr? It would be a long day so really early start required.

I can take my POS truck. I could pick Nate up at like 0700 (7am yes 7 comes twice a day Nate :) and meet you at the DQ in Tantallion at 0745. gives us 2 hours to get there. We would not be back until approx 2000 (thats 8pm). I have been there 2 times but my directions suck. I think I have a map.

I'm in.

I've been there before. Mike flagged a line from the "Parking" right to the top off the cliff.

Hey,
On a side note - keep your eyes open for boulders. I was in Moose River Country two weeks ago at a friends cottage and discovered a handful of granite boulders along the Tangier River.

Didn't end up getting out. Snow and heavy wind. Hopefully we'll be able to head out next weekend if the weather is right.

You may want to think about bringing ice gear, unless your going aiding I suppose. There was enough snow out that way to warrant a ski in.

Has anyone been out to Moose River yet this season for ice? With this warm spell would there be anything left?
