Rockies girl going east

Postby sheilagh » Sun Apr 10, 2005 10:51 pm

Hello everyone...

I live in Canmore, Alberta right now and I'm considering a move to Nova Scotia for work this summer. I've been looking at some the info on crags out there but, wanted to get some personal perspectives on what I should check out. I will be heading to the Halifax area and I'm interested in bouldering, sport climbs (I lead around 10d) and a little trad. What say you?

Hey,

The bouldering is amazing. In 45 minutes ( at most) in almost any direction outside of Halifax is great location to boulder for the day. There's also the Monday night bouldering in the Summer so you should check that out. Its a great way to meet people.

check out http://ns.bouldering.ca or the new bouldering guide.

The sport climbing is pretty sparse with "the easy" stuff staring around 10b.

There's lots of trad to be had too. Pick up the guide book for rope climbs too.

Check out one of the three gyms too, they are great for meeting people.

Be prepared the sharpness, west coast rock is too soft.

If you come out ask around for the Stoners. We are always looking for female representation. The climbing is sweeeeet :)

Mittsy is right about that. Personally I think we could use the female presence to clean up some of these guys' acts. Being that I am constantly offended and made the point of ridicule. But ahh, what do I know, I am from the 'kinder-gentler' military.

Hope to see you out sometime. So Sean, whats the dilly for next weekend yo???

As Mike would say, perhaps using a different word:

Prospect, Prospect, Prospect.

I have to move my schedule around, I will know tomorrow for sure. The Tentative plan is Sorrows end. Meet at the car pool area at 1000 on Saturday. Then after we climb my house for beer and hot dogs, sausage (the ones you eat), and hamburgers, think Michelle is buying some rabbit food (salad). There is plenty of room to crash at my place and there will be many beer drank and no drinking and driving. So make a plan or bring a sleeping bag. Wives are encouraged to come and chaperon your little ones (husbands). There will be a post tomorrow to let everyone know for sure.
