FFA - Peckerhead Direct at Columbus wall

Postby bns » Mon Oct 06, 2008 5:14 pm

Yesterday the Peckerhead Direct project at Columbus went down. Super thin climbing for 2 bolts to link into Peckerhead. Great line for crimp fiends! Home of the one-finger tooth deadpoint. Do it!

Suhweeeeaatttttt!!!! That rig has been bolted and waiting to go for years now! Nice climbing Zig. I pretty much figured the one finger tooth deadpoint would be the beta. Let the sendfest begin!!!
grade?

mid 12 for sure.
also the steep leaning arete beside Andisimo is amazing. That thing goes and it will be one of THE testpiece in the province. Really impressive line.

In other TESTPIECE news....
...just a day prior to Zig's realization of Peckerhead,
Sean Kelly was seen shaking his thang out the Keyhole during a blistering
half hour ascent of the Keyhole Wall.

Nice job Zig! And errrr Sean :)

The keyhole wall was pretty clean as were the odd sport route and the long 5.10s (DDD + Alpomayo), but man has that cliff become overgrown!! The cliff needs to be re-discovered and scrubbed. Maybe a weekend of camping, libations, scrubbing and climbing would be in order? Would it be too cold in November for this kind of shenanigans? Any interest?

I am pretty sure Thom and I climbed that route, wearing backpacks and in hiking boots, a few years back. Of course, there were no bolts on the route back then. And we had been drinking that morning. I am sure I have a picture somewhere. Good times. Sure do miss climbing.

Oh yeah, I remember that ascent. I seem to remember that Thom named the route after you Peter!

I'd be down for some climbing in November. I should be back at it by then.
