Fundy Ice Climbing, Sunday, January 4/09?

Postby peter » Sat Jan 03, 2009 11:17 am

The tides are good for tomorrow on the Fundy coast, low tide at 11:30 a.m., high tide after dark at 5:30 p.m..

The Kentville forecast is, "A few flurries ending late in the morning then a mix of sun and cloud. Local blowing snow in the morning. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming northwest 30 early in the afternoon. High plus 1."

Anyone interested in an 8:15 a.m. start from Steve-O-Reno's, 8:30 a.m. start from the Tim Horton's at Kearney Lake Road/exit 2 on the 102?

Hi Peter,

You don't know me but a friend of mine and I are in for tomorrow. We have all our own stuff and our own wheels but will check in at Steve O Renos at 8:15 or whenever your post just said. My friend Darrell who you might know may join us as well. See you tomorrow. So exciting.... !!! Just like an internet date..... 'Can't wait to see what you look like....

I look like the picture to the left, but without the frosty unibrow.

Darrell as in Aliant Darrell aka Man of Steele?

Pick either location to meet up, the Tim's at Kearney Lake and the 102, or downtown at Steve-O-Reno's, whichever you prefer.

See you there.

Peter

Sounds like we have a good crowd.

Can't guarantee there will be ice, but Hall's Harbour left side should have something to play around on.

See you folks in the a.m.. Bring some long slings, if you have them.

There was enough ice at Hall's Harbour, for six climbers to pass the hours climbing yesterday. Chuck did two lead climbs, finding enough ice to take screws. Another top rope was set up, giving us three routes. Pictures to follow ...

Sounds hopeful then for a good season....cold in Scotland but little snow, only a few icey gullies in nick so far...maybe I will have to come over to NS for another icefest visit, stay tuned.
Cheers and happy new year to all.
