Postby tracstarr » Thu Aug 13, 2009 2:51 pm

So i'll be back in town for a few days and stoked to get out climbing. Would be game for some sport or bouldering. Anyone around that has time off during the weekdays? ;) Scooter.... you're getting a cold right.... *cough* cough*.... sick days?

Which one is best? I'd be keen to get out on a rope

Sweet; sounds good. Where do you guys want to go? I hear that Columbus Wall has seen some traffic and cleaning lately. There are a couple of sport climbs there, but mostly mixed and trad climbing. I’ve got a full rack though, and there are apparently lots of trees to top-rope from. Have you guys been before (I haven’t)? If not, I can ask a friend who has climbed there recently for some details to supplement the directions in the guide book.

I'd be super keen on columbus, I tried to find it a while ago with no success, so I'd be keen to try again. I have a ton of gear and a car. Tues is great for me!

you keeners are freakin' me out!!!

The guidebook should get you right there - it is the bomb. heh.heh.

Apparently Rich and Zig recently re-cut the trail to Columbus (from the logging road) and rebuilt the cairn by the side of the road.

Just keep walkin on the road ~15-20 minutes. Jusssssst before it crests and bends left, there should be said cairn and trail on the left hand side. Bizzzzang...5 minutes and yer at the base.

I posted a trip report last year that you could check out. I would recommend climbing anything that is not too green.

don't think i'm going to climb tomorrow during the day. it's way to hot to enjoy climbing. I was hoping to come home to decent temps, instead I seem to have brought the heat. Going to do some night sessions instead. Even though columbus is mostly in the trees, it's still going to suck in 30 degree heat. No thanks. Maybe next time.

Hey Sean,

I was talking to Rich and Zig and was told the same thing. I guess they’ve re-cut the trail and marked it with a cairn and marking tape. Also, apparently there’s been some cleaning done at Columbus over the past couple of weekends; so there should be less green routes than before. I’m psyched to check the place out – I will be going Tuesday and Wednesday during the day (a little warm weather never hurt me).

By the way, when the hell are you going to join me for a climb? You can’t expect your glory days to carry your rep for you. Come and do some sending man!

Wicked day yesterday at Columbus. It was pretty hot on the way in, but the trees kept things shady and there was a nice breeze. Cool spot. I'd love to get back in there soon.
