GZ is getting psyched for the upcomming NSBL season and for pulling on plastic in general. Enough of all this sharp rock stuff. Who really needs another flapper? GZ is going to dump a load of cash on some lucky hold manufacturers and YOU get to help pick which ones. We are taking requests for what YOU want to pull on. Go online...find some hold companies/sets or individual features and post up here. This is your chance to spend GZ's money so dont hold(lol) back.

I love Teknik holds. They are designed, poured, and shipped in Canada.

Hey Sean,

I'll be specific. (your a rad fairy by the way)

http://www.threeballclimbing.com/climbing_holds/climbing_holds_puzzler.htm
this one is a sweet LARGE hold (only $33 US) with crazy texture on the one side... pretty affordable for the size.

...and this thing is the king daddy of holds. but its $525 US!! ouch. Still, its 4ft x 4ft, and is craaaazy! (formed by Kehl)
http://www.soillholds.com/the-growth

and this Pinch from http://www.frictionclimbing.com "Spinal Tap" (under pinches) $35 US This is super different from anything we have in the gym so far, so that makes it on the list.

theres my votes!

Dating yourself?! I helped Mike Call routeset for the 1994 Quebec climbing comp, before he'd even started Pusher.

Anyway, how about more novelty shapes, like woodland creatures, medieval weaponry, or classic typefaces?

Here's what I'd spend my money on!

Sequence Holds - Carl Flapper, Peanuts, Fun Guys, and The Big Guy. Rob (the owner) also has some new shapes out, a few of which I've seen photos of, and some specially poured for a comp. Be on the look out for an update on the website soon. http://sequenceclimbing.com

Climb It - Great holds! Good texture! The erosions, The shallow/moderate/positive slopers are amazing (think they come in large/xl sizes), silverado cobbles, sediments (great for forcing sequences), they also have a whole set of font holds, they're amazing!.

Technik - They make some of the best pinches, hands down. Get some!

So Ill - We have a bunch of So Ill holds where I'm setting. They're pretty fun to climb on, and set with. The texture is more abrasive but on NS fingertips you'll feel right at home. The texture gets betters as they get broken in... Medication (moderate), The Blades (jug), The Eggs (moderate), DNA (moderate), Big Egg (moderate), Wisdom tooth (jug, but great on the 45 for boulder problems)

Nice - West Coast Granite Set A & B. The best granite holds around. The beach stones (fractured set) are also good, nice friendly pinches. Bubble Cakes.

Have fun with the new holds!

For my money (and Sean's hopefully) Soill holds definitely stand out among the rest. The unique textures, shapes, and designs stand out from the competition. Also, the longevity of the texture seems much better. Climbing on 4 year old Technik holds feels like climbing on wood holds. More durable too - they bounce rather than shatter when dropped.

Thanks Sean!!

The So Ill ones definitely look rad!

Here are some more I found:

The granite slopers from these guys: http://www.summitlabs.net/holds/realistic/

The giant tufa from Franklin looks sweet but their website is near impossible to navigate: http://www.franklinhandholds.com/holds_viewer/holds.php

The features here and the smaller stuff all look great too: http://www.rockcandyholds.com/catalog/features

The diamonds look good from these guys... Ah memories of bop gun! http://www.revolutionclimbing.com/Diamonds_c_23.html

I checked out that other place you mentioned Sean too and that stuff looks sick too. I like the mushrooms and the pumpkins there too.

I like So iLL holds the bestest.

Preventative
Poison
Pathology
Limbs
Newborn
Adams Apple
Gingivitis
Phalanges
The Blades
Cartilage
The Udders
Praying Hands

Teknik holds are cool but I do not want the same ones that the Rock Court has - variety is better.

I liked Buxton's suggestions too.

Has anyone out east climbed on Rock Candy holds? We've been picking up their seconds at Rocktoberfest down at the red the last few years. The owners are super cool and seem to remember me each year.

Their ruffles are really cool. I know a guy in Ohio who loves them because they're pretty positive, but you can't just wildly launch and expect to hit them. http://www.rockcandyholds.com/catalog/x-large-holds/ruffles

We also grabbed a bunch of their pudgies which are fairly positive, but not too positive, slopers: http://www.rockcandyholds.com/catalog/medium-holds/pudgies

I noticed on the Teknik website a few weeks ago that they now actually send their holds to the USA for some part of the creation process...if I remember correctly it had something to do with Seth getting sick from the texture fumes..??

I think there's a few hold companies out there that do this. They're basically outsourcing the pouring of the holds to large companies that deal in huge amounts of urethane/polyurethane. The cost is cheaper than buying relatively small amounts of material for the holds they need to pour. It's cheaper to outsource the pouring process and pay shipping.

I think Teknik has also been expanding into Europe a fair amount recently too, so maybe it's getting to be too much work. (I could be making this up). I would imagine working around those nasty fumes for years wouldn't be too pleasant either. Sounds like a win, win situation. Except for the fact that they're not completely Made in Canada anymore...
