Orby Head Ice conditions

Postby shannon » Sun Feb 04, 2007 5:47 pm

Greetings!

Scot Ferguson and I have made two trips down into Orby head. THe ice is bullet hard in most places, starting to make me wonder if I sharpened my picks wrong. Here's a shot:

The report can be found here on Trailpeak.com

Ice was better this sunday morning, but still hard in places. It was a 30M rap down the cliff, for maybe 30 feet of vertical ice in places.

Getting up was a scramble up the point. 2nd time around was much easier, but I popped an ice pick this time, and caught my adze beside my cheek and nostril. Just a scratch, but lucky!

Scott had me on belay!

ahem......BwahahahahahahahahahahA!
Oh, but I know I'd be right there with ya lads. Tis a sad thing to be eyeing every last bit of water dripping for potential. Have you managed to get any trips into NB for ice this season Shannon?
You can't take the sky from me.
