Outdoor Pursuits - The DAL Rock Court - Sorrow's End

Postby Kelsey T » Tue Sep 30, 2008 10:32 am

Greetings from the Rock Court!

This week the Outdoor Pursuits Program is headed to the reclusive ‘Sorrow’s End’ near Terrence Bay. The site itself is located on a beautiful swimming hole approximately 45 minutes from the parking area. With spectacular views of the rugged Nova Scotian landscape, this face has a great range of beginner level climbs up to some of the toughest in the province. Still not convinced? There are also caves. An après-climb social will be taking place at 7pm for all those interested in winding down in a truly Maritime fashion.

The Low Down:
Sorrow’s End Climb/Hike/Swim/Cave Bonanzarama
Friday, October 3rd: 2pm - 7pm
Fee: $17 rock court members, $20 non-members
Special: Purchase your Rock Court Membership this week and tag along to Sorrow’s End for free.

You can register by calling 494-3372 and ask for Climb Outdoor Pursuits or feel free to e-mail rock@dal.ca with outdoor pursuits in the subject line. All are welcome!

Other Goings On:

LEARN TO SET UP YOUR OWN ROPES THIS WEEKEND with the Outdoor 101 course
- OCT 4 (rainout Oct 5).
10-3:30pm - site TBA
$65 M; $80 NM
New Rock Court members - $50!!! Now that's a deal!

Too nervous for the great outdoors - give indoor climbing a try at our climbing
trials this weekend - Saturday Oct 4 10:30am.

I think commercial events are supposed to be posted under under "Comps / Events" rather than under "Nova Scotia"

hey kelsey,

is your outdoor course at sorrows this saturday or somewhere else?
nothing against courses, but if there is one there i'll hit another crag on that particular saturday
(it's unusual for me to climb there but i thought i might check it out this weekend.........or maybe I'll visit Crows Nest if anyone's interested)

cheers

Hey Sean,

The trip is heading out Friday afternoon (2pm-7pm) so we certainly won't be in your way on Saturday.

Mick,

A post under the events section would certainly make sense. This being said, it may also be a good way to keep you guys posted on where we are going to be.

Thanks for the tip!

Thanks Kelsey.

Hope your crew has fun out there. I’m excited to hear there’s some interest in roped climbing these days.

I was out at First Face last week with “grasshopper” (who is lots of fun, solid, and makes good cookies!!) and I was a little embarrassed to report the overall lack of interest in roped climbing around here. But, maybe I’m just out of touch…there actually seems to be more folks roping up these days when I think about it.

Keep it real!
