What is the best way to get kinks and twists out of a rope?

Step 1) Run the full length of it through your ATC. Repeat as necessary.

Did you put it into a top loading washer?

running it through a single biner, preferably suspended way up high can work too. If the sheath is twisted it may never straighten out. We have one rope that I don't know if it was uncoiled wrong or what, but no matter what we do it still wants to twist.

Lowering through coldshuts and Fixe Ring anchors tends to twist the hell out of a rope. Pulling the rope all the way through and switching ends helps keep it from getting all the twists pushed into the middle of the rope. It also helps evenly spread out the wear.

As far as top load washers, if you daisy chain it, twisting shouldn't be a problem. I always wash my ropes in a top loading an have never had problems. I would think throwing an unchained rope into a front loader would twist and tangle too.

I thought the big thing about top loaders was the rope tangling around the spindle and wrecking both?
