Ice Screw

Postby bhead » Wed Jan 14, 2009 11:03 pm

I was ice climbing up to the Hampton Marsh on Sunday and found an ice screw attached to a quick draw at the base under 1-2" snow. It was near the centre line.

I should have mentioned there is blue/yellow tape on the biner and the cord on the biner is a redish/blue color.

is the ice screw an old style one (e.g. no quick twist flip dealy). Old, probably rusty, doesn't go into ice very well? possibly say's "smiley's" on it?

There's no rust on the screw, it looks newer.

Brian

You can ignore PJs rust comment. He thinks that since my gear is old (more than 5 years) then it must be rusty. The biner is probably Cory's and fairly new, and the ice screw would be mine. Not rusty, but certainly harder to place than the new shiny stuff that the younger generation seems to REQUIRE in order to lead ice.

Yeah, it can't be that old. When Streve's gear gets really old, and rusted he gives it to PJ. :P
