Anchor on top of astroboy

Postby wjones » Tue May 07, 2013 9:45 pm

Yesterday I found a cordelette(orange) with 2 locking biners(blue and yellow tape) clipped to the rap rings on the belay station on top of astroboy. It seemed kind of odd that it was clipped to the rap rings not the bolts. Anyways, if this is your gear and you forgot it or if it was supposed to be a permanent anchor system just let me know.

That is Marty's gear. He was trailing up seconds for Rock school so I guess they forgot to clean his anchor. Also Will there is nothing wrong with building your anchor off the rings.

Alright glad to here you got it back from the sign in box and it seemed to be in good shape. I thought that you weren't supposed to build your anchor on the rap rings, I guess not.

Building your anchor from rap rings placed through fixed tat is not ok. However, building anchors through rap rings on bolted stations is fine. Could that be the source of confusion?

this is the type of bolted rap rings mostly used in the area,

most of the full size locking biners will not fit directly in the bolt....
