Black Dike

Postby Fred » Sat Jan 07, 2006 9:09 pm

I've always said that ice is much steeper than it looks when you are looking at it from the ground. This photo kinda confirms that. Every photo I've ever seen of the "Black Dike" was from the ground looking up at it. In this link http://neice.com/photopost/showphoto.ph ... um&cat=508 it looks way steeper because you are looking at it from the side. I'm assuming that is the Dike anyways? This is a photo of Canon.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

nice pics, I'd love to hit some ice down there. I dunno though, I find I always over estimate my abilites on ice, till I am a few moves in and... uh oh! Good thing for top rope! hehe.

That's the Dike all the way to the left in that corner.

Where is black Dike anyway? It doesn't look like a something you'd see in the Maritimes.

Some Black Dike trivia......

In '98 or '99, Climbing magazine had a photo of Joe Kennedy and Greg Hull climbing the Dike. I think they were just starting the mixed traverse near the top. The photo was taken by Joe Josephson.
