Cactus Flower 5.11c JTree

Postby STeveA » Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:47 am

If you are looking for a time waster, I have posted the first video from JTree to my site. It is Jon leading Cactus Flower, a 5.11c climb on the Hall of Horrors area. The video is about 10 minutes long. Jon had top roped the route last year and was keen to lead it. He red pointed the route on his first try. It is very steep with bad well spaced bolts, however it is a beautiful climb and one I would recommend.

I don't know if our computer is hosed or what. I have tried it twice and it says that the file is corrupt and something about windows media player. The second time a realplayer box popped up but it won't work.

What do you play it with?

It is in Windows Media Video format so it should not come up as a Real Player file. It is also hosted on a Windows based machine using IIS so if you are using something other than Internet Explorer you may have problems. I use Firefox and it works OK. Let me know if you still have problems and I can probably save the videos in another format. I use Windows based programs because they are free, but I want people to be able to see the videos so I can always use other formats.

I'm using FF, maybe I'll try Internet Exploder once. Our computer has been testy with MS stuff since starting up with FF.

I couldn't view it either.
Also your site doesn't look right at the moment, it's in the old format or something and I can't navigate to any of the newer media.

Wierd, no matter what I do I can't get a new version of the page. It doesn't show pictures or anything from our Red Rocks trip or JTree 2008.

Oh well
I just want to climb.

Hmmm, I don't recall climbing that sloppily, you must have edited all those foot slips in eh?

And we really need to fire that camera man. :D

Also this forum won't allow you to edit posts?

Jon, Nanny was cleaning the Attic yesterday which included cleaning the router, hence the site was done and reverted to the backup server.

Are the J-tree pics up yet? Looking forward to seeing those.

Steve: I must say... You are one lucky guy to have raised two grown men who not only climb but go climbing with you. I hope someday I'll be that lucky.

Cheers Adamsons.

Hey Fred,
We hear you and Cara on getting our own climbing team on the go :-)

Megan already has the fire...even started belaying Emily last summer...she's a machine
in the climbing gym this winter practicing - quite crazy for a 9 year old...can't wait to see the benefits on her rock climbing...

we'll have some 'family' climb times for sure!

Fred

JTree pics are up but not too well edited. Slimmed down from 800 to 400, but hope to get them organized by climb as soon as I have all the video digitized.

OMG! I never should have followed that link. Now I won't be able to sleep tonight knowing that all that amazing rock is out there waiting to be climbed and I'll be confined to my cube for the rest of the week. Great photos Adamson.

On another note. Is climbing on Headstone still permitted? I thought I red something a while back that was going to ban climbing on this feature and call it a national monument of some sort.

I did not see any signs banning climbing, and the guidebook we had was published this year with no mention of such a thing.

I think my favourite climb was Lean and Jerk. A great lead by both Jon and Pj and a great overhanging crack with everything from finger to fist jams, offwidth to laybacks. Definately should be on everyones to do list.

Check out the videos. PJ had edited a lot of them and added music for your enjoyment:
