newbie interested in getting into the sport

Postby crimespree » Mon Nov 13, 2006 12:34 am

Hi all, I am a newbie from Charlottetown interested in getting into the sport. I had considered going to Cape Enrage for a day to try it out but I read some comments that indicate it may not be the best place.

Any suggestions as to what I should do first to get my feet wet?

Rock School in Fredericton is your best bet but that happens in September.

Ice School will be coming up in February too.

Otherwise, you need to hook up with some locals to head to a gym or outside climbing.

There is little for climbing in PEI.

It is usually held at Hayes Falls on the Maliseet trail.

I started building my wall in my garage this week. It will probably be a couple of weeks before it is in a climbable state. I promise to post some pics once it starts to take shape.

You would be welcome to come try it once it is ready. I don't have much for holds yet, but that will change with time.
