The most local area in the Halifax Metro is the Bedford Quarry which is located off Rocky Lake rd in Bedford, I'm pretty sure it's on PP and would be worthwhile to have someone who knows the place show you around, that's if it's in.
By the way there are now fixed anchors for both ice lines at the quarry, I forgot I put those in last spring. Makes the top rope setup a little safer (We don't have to girth hitch that bush anymore:).
Halls Harbour is also a really great area. It is located on the Fundy coast just past Kentville and is about a hour or so drive from Halifax. Halls generally has good early season ice providing the tides don't eat the bottoms out too quick, Make sure you check tides, Baxters Harbour is sometimes good as well.
Best people to try and contact would be Peter, Jeremy, or Conan, they know most of the spots.
I'm in Oregon shredding massive amounts of POW on Mt.Hood so I don't even know if anything is in. Mmmmmwaahahahaha!
