Bad Karma

Postby Webslinger » Fri Apr 29, 2005 11:31 am

I have just gone through the following emotions.
:o :( :? :x

Boulderfest registration opened for non-members last night at 12:00am.
Unfortunately our Domain Name Registration expired at 12:01 am.
Therefore the site has been down.

What are the odds? I have re-registered the name and hope the site will be back up soon. Sorry for screwing this one up. I need to retire :!:

Chris,

there were some people who were able to register this morning, can you confirm as to whether you received those entries?

Speaking of Bad Karma,

Someone just broke into my house recently (like, yesterday) and stole my laptop and over $600 I had saved up. Awesome. Plus my wicked Burton bag, bouldering brush and Kona shorts (bouldering gear was in the bag).

I am ultra bummed. Not sure what I did to deserve that.

They'd better never be seen with my shorts on...

Sucks dude.

People who steal are the worst.

Someone just ran over my bike not to long ago and drove off. I was so pissed people have no respect.

I had someone steal my Bike. In Amherst, (About 10000 people) everyone knows everyone. So he just got beat badly and I got my bike back.
Anyway, sorry to hear that.

Postby Jess » Tue May 10, 2005 12:10 pm

Hey there everyone... Just a quick question... I'm on the list that's been posted for boulder fest but it's been a week since I registered and I haven't been able to send in a check for $40 ... if I can get it in by the end of the week am I still registered, or have I been officially kicked off the list? :( :?

I just checked Climb Nova Scotia’s mail. The only Boulderfest check we have received is from Sarah & Derick Smith. They have immunity and can not be voted off the island.

A bunch of people paid at the AGM, and some are giving checks to Cara. I am not organizing the event this year, I only check the mail, so I do not have the complete list of who has paid. I paid for my registrations online with my VISA.

I expect that now that registration is full, there will be a review of who has paid and who has not, which may open up a few new spots for the people on the waiting list.

i personally thinks this 'send money in before hand' is garbage. what if some last minute things come up and you are forced not to go? and what if ppl like me do not have a visa or are unable to write cheques? is it possible to send ca$h money?

Gimme a break dude. Welcome to the real world: To get into busy events with limited space, you need to bite the bullet and take a risk. This isn't the last time you might sign up for something beforehand, get used to it.

As for not being able to write cheques, you can always just go to the bank and get a bank draft done up in like 5 mins.

And no, don't send money in the mail, it's not traceable and some disgruntled mailman will steal it. Or Cara. She's tricky.

From an event organizer position it makes a lot of sense and makes your planning a lot easier if you have confrimed numbers. Also it does weed out people not showing up and if they don't show up you don't loose money on the event.

yah, well last year there a bunch of people who signed up and never showed up (or showed up, paddled across themselves, and didn't pay anyway) effectively preventing those tickets from being paid for and used by more honest/dependable boulderers...

so this is a small price (no pun intended) to pay to ensure maximizing attendance.

Like seriously, you pay for something before you take it home from Wal-Mart, you pay for something before you get it on Ebay, and heck you pay for your BigMac before you get it at Rotten-Ronnys. it's so simple, it takes like no time. and another way to look at it is this, you pre-pay and your spot in written in stone (well sorta)

ok im 100% sure that making people pay before hand will not guarantee that 70 ppl will be on the islan that day. as for taking things home from wal-mart... of course you pay before you take it home its against the law? no body is questioning that. Im also sure that allwong ppl to bring money on the day of will attract some climbers. are you guys all arguing that bringing the money on the day of is not easier and more convenient for the person attending? i personally dont have time to go to the bank and get a bank draft done up. anywho, ill see you there regardless. my views are still the same and you can post all you want to try to convince me otherwise but its not gonna happen. anywho, ill see you there regardless. I wasn't asked to get flowers on you guys gotta chill out
