I too would prefer to be able to edit my posts. The previous CNS forum allowed editing of posts. It was my experience that most people never realized that they could edit their posts. Posted corrections do get annoying. You do have a good point about continuity though. Maybe just give the ability to edit posts to people who ask for it. Make it clear when granting the privilege (form letter) that continuity changes will not be tolerated (editing should only be to correct errors, and if errors have stimulated comment that should be acknowledged: [corrected, thanks Jane Doe for pointing it out] ). Then if there is a complaint about continuity vallations, you can remove their privilege. By granting the privilege individually rather than on mass it makes it a privilege rather than a right.
As a dyslexic I have plenty of cause to edit my posts. However, the really funny typos which generate comment I leave as is. Some of my funniest posts have resulted from my spell check replacing the word I was trying to spell with something which means something else.
